Playa Blanca

Embracing the Lanzarote coast

Linking the southern tip of Lanzarote to Fuerteventura, with a 12-minute ferry crossing, Playa Blanca is 43km from Sands Beach Resort at Costa Teguise - just over an hour's drive or a change of bus at Arrecife.

Playa Blanca

On the way to Playa Blanca you will pass through the lava fields on the edge of Timanfaya national park and you will also see the salt pans of Janubio. The old port of Playa Blanca may be small but is home to fishermen and pleasure boats as well as the giant ferries that link Lanzarote to Fuerteventura with a 12-minute trip. Between the two main islands you will see another tiny island - the oasis of Los Lobos.

Around the headland to the west, beaches open up among the rocks and with Montaña Roja as a backdrop, they are a great place to lie back and take in the sun.

Heading along the narrow promenade, eastwards, the sea laps at the rocks just below. Restaurants, shops and bars huddle together along the walk and a few steps' climb will take you to the pedesrian part of the old town, popular place to shop in a car-free environment.

Marina Rubicon

Below the promenade, more small beaches emerge until a brisk 20 minute walk brings you to the new Marina Rubicon, a classy development of 5 plazas linked by boardwalks and bridges. There is a lovely continental feel to the spread of restaurants, cafes and designer shops here and it’s a welcome addition to the Playa Blanca area.
